Turkey Talk for 2014

It wasn't on the list because I was being lazy and just answering the blackhead part of your post. I don't know much about bacitracin, except that it's im some turkey and chick starters as a preventative for necrotic enteritis. Google necrotic enteritits in poultry (Clostridium perfringens) and I'll think you'll find that it can be treated with metronidazole or amoxicillin.

Looked it up. Found it here: http://www.thepoultrysite.com/diseaseinfo/101/necrotic-enteritis
Thanks so much!

I was so upset because I knew straight away that they were my other hens feathers but luckily my other hen is due to hatch shortly might keep a hen from her lot but up to my grandfather as they live on his property and feeds them so will keep all updated if get a hatching shortly on 18 eggs

Sorry about your loss....Dang predators!

My young hen that was attacked a couple weeks ago by an eagle died today of her injuries. I thought she was going to pull through and she did not, So that makes the 6th bird I have lost to an eagle in the last 6 weeks.

Almost Thanksgiving guys! Is everyone ready? Has anyone else already processed or have plans to do so? I sent 7 Bourbon Red turkeys to the processor tonight. The largest oldest Tom is 2.5years old he will be my families Thanksgiving turkey, the other 6 Toms are 7months old. I have a few customers picking up theirs tomorrow and the rest will get sectioned up and put in my freezer.

This leaves me with one older (2.5years) Tom and 5 hens going into next breeding season. I am so looking forward to having only one Tom. I also have 2 young Toms and a young hen I am still trying to rehome though I may save the little Toms for 2 extra meals and then add the little hen to my flock later. We will see.

We just finished butchering 9 turkeys--8 toms and 1 hen. They are all in ice water for the night and first thing in the morning I will start cleaning them, bag and weigh. These are all sold to people for Thanksgiving. Also, this weekend was our largest poultry show of the year and I got home with the 18 chickens I entered at about 1:30 in the afternoon. After being busy getting birds ready for show, driving 60 miles round trip 3 times in 3 days back and forth to the show, then butchering turkeys...I am exhausted
