Turkey Talk for 2014

Just candled my 10 turkey eggs from Porter's. I ordered 4 each of Chocolate and Bronze. He sent an extra of each. 7 are viable!! 3 were unfertilized. I'm thrilled...20 days left...
Good luck on your hatch!!

Expecting my Porters babies mid-June and CAN'T WAIT!!!

I just love the turkey myself. And your right people that come here just want to pet and hand feed my turkey. My DIL called our place a petting zoo cuz she could pet and hand feed all my brids and cows. One of my daughters asked me what what my place called and what did I do with all the birds? She told her kids they could not eat grandma's eggs cuz there were babies in them! lol

Love the pictures everyone has posted. Turkeys are such wonderful creatures. Every time someone visits me for the first time they are bowled over by my midget white tom. So many people have never seen a turkey before that wasn't featherless and frozen.

I remember the first time I saw a tom I was bowled over myself--so beautiful. I really love the wild turkeys when I can see them.

So True!! My dad loves to come and visit me and gets a real kick out of all the animals, my whole family does. I remember when I had my Naragansetts last year and was walking around with a 2-3 mo poult he did a double take at what I was holding and started laughing. I miss having turkeys sooo much; between the personalities and the strutting, they are so majestic. They were our favorites. Is June here yet?!

They are very cute.
I came home to a sweetgrass in the hatcher. It was not suppose to hatch till tomorrow with the other 11. lol

The drawn out hatches are a pain. I have one poult and three chicks in the hatcher, today was suppose to be hatching day, so I could have more in the morning. Plus the two that hatched on Wednesday.

Here are a couple pics WalnutHill the second has a chick in a cup due to the fact I kept having to open the hatcher to tend the bronze giving him some vitamins every few hours.
So the shells and membranes on the others go rubbery. The chicks were zipping and then could not get out. I helped them out. By the 4th one something told me to be gentle so
all of a sudden I realized it had not finished and it's intestines were not all the way inside so it is in a cup to finish. If the other 3 can't get out by this evening I will assist them.

Quote: Yes the drawn out hatches are a pain in the keister. I had to move two brooders out side yesterday to make room for these today. As soon as my bators are empty I am done hatching this year. :)
I have a couple that hatched a few days ago and will put them in with these to help teach these to eat and drink for me. Turkey and chicks make great tutors. :)
