WOW Marcy your birds look great!! I will try to get some good pictures of the 3 poults I got from you!! They are gorgeous and healthy...the hen Maggie May is also thriving and she lays 1 egg a day. I am thinking about getting an incubator...want a small one because I do not want to raise up too many!! I am coming to get the other hen this weekend if you have not sold her if the weather holds. I am not going to drive up there in the rain!! We have been getting loads of rain...yesterday it rained almost all day and this morning it is so cool it feels GREAT!! If people knew what all it took to raise a turkey and all they would be happy to pay the price!! God knows what all they feed the store birds and they are treated awful!! Every one on here treat their birds like family...I am getting a bird for Thanksgiving from you unless I end up with all my poults being toms!!

I got my turkey today, however most of them did not survive the shipping! UGH
And I cannot get any more now till next spring.... I am not a happy camper about it! I am still going to need a Slate Blue hen! and no were to get one!!!

A breeder in Co. but her birds are not laying any longer.

And I cannot get any more now till next spring.... I am not a happy camper about it! I am still going to need a Slate Blue hen! and no were to get one!!!

That is too bad. Did the shipping take longer than a day? Was it hot where you are? How many in the box? They need a minimum # in the box to stay warm. Where are you located?

It took 4 days for them to get here! I was trying like crazy to find them yesterday to no avail! I had 15 babies in the box and I am in Alabama. But they went to Ga before they came here! That was the extra day! It is in the 90's here. They would have been fine I think, if I had gotten them in 2-3 days at least! I was in tears!

Someone just contacted me and offered me $15.00 for my 6 month old BR turkeys.

SERIOUSLY???????

Heck, I sell my chickens for $20.00. A turkey $15.00? My poults sell for $12.00.

That was my laugh for today.

If they were sent Express Mail, you should be able to file a claim with the PO. Or at least try. That is horrible, I agree with Kuntrygirl, 4 days is too long for chicks let alone poults, they are more fragile. May be too long now to file a claim, I think you need to open the box at the PO and file right then and there so you can show them they arrived dead. But not really sure on the procedure, I fortunately have not had to deal with that.
