i have came up with a solutionfor the housing of my 8 turkey poults...or i hope i have, but first would like to know.....can turkeys live with mini-pigs? or is their something they can catch off them that would make them ill?

Adult turkeys could hold their own with Mini-Pigs as long as they have ample space and a roost on which to "get away" from the pigs, but -- regardless of health status -- you should not house turkey poults or small juveniles with the pigs. Pigs are omnivores, they can and will eat the poults.

All that said, turkeys require much different fencing than pigs -- especially mini-pigs -- do. Anything but BB varieties can hop right over hog fencing.

our piggy fence is 2m high (was formally the chicken enclosure before we got so many chickens we hadtomove themsomewhere larger

i dont thiink our mini pigs could catch the turkeys or would hurt them(they are only 30cm high) ,they've lived with chickens, chicks, ducks, ducklings etc and never tried it.i was just worried there may be something they could catch frompigs

Depending on the type of turkeys you have 2m is nothing. They will be able to fly out. If you want to keep them in you'll need to put a top on the pen.

We had a boar and he was very aggressive about his territory. As long as they are well behaved, and agreeing with Olive Hill, They should be adults, I can see it turning out back with little poults. Also, make sure the mini-pigs cannot get into the turkey feed. Expectually medicated turkey feed (turkey starter or grower usually has monesin in it and can be fatal to your pigs)

many thanks for the replies, the top of the enclosure is covered with bird netting (the stuff used over large aviarys) so there is no chance of escaping,it was just the'could they catch something'i was worried about
i seeno mention of monesin on the label of the turkey food but it is medicated against cocci so will be careful with that! many thanks
