Hello everyone. My Tom, Jim passed away this morning and I am not sure what to do with our female, Tim. Jim and Tim never successfully mated, they used to try occasionally but it's been months. They never really got along either, he was super submissive and friendly for a male and she is aggressive and dominant. Would she be fine on her own? (We have chickens) I don't know if they would be considered mates. I am super worried that she will be too aggressive to another female, and I do not want another male. Should I try to get her a companion female? If so how long after the male turkey passed should we get another bird

I would recommend getting at least one hen if not two to keep her company.

I’d say get a hen for her, they would definitely fight at first, and it looks brutal, but intervention should only be needed if one is trying to escape and the other is not letting them escape. I was super scared when my Tom started fighting my over aggressive young hens, but the fights ended pretty fast, and always with a clear winner, only took two days for them to co exist just fine.
Also, beautiful Turkey!
