x2. It took my silkie almost 9 months to start laying!

This would be my guess also. Some breeds just take longer I guess.

It took my Silkie a year and a half to start laying. We thought she was retarded, but now she's the only one still laying and does so reliably every other day. Of course she's a house chicken so has more light than the outdoor birds...

Yay for house chickens! And mine haven't started yet either, but they are only 7 months.

But what about the serama mutt things? I think one of them is a cross between like a silkie and a serama. And the other i habe noo clue

My 9-month old Ameraucanas still aren't laying and they're under lights 14 hours a day. I'm resigned to the fact that they may not lay until Spring.

Ok so i did some research and i found out tht silkies are very late bloomers and so are mutts. I also know a ladie who has silkies and hers didnt lay until seven months of age and they stopped laying in the winter. So this could possibly mean no eegs til spring
