Turning eggs by hand vs egg turner

I have a little giant incubator with egg turner and fan. I only get about 50% hatch rate, with most of the unhatched eggs being unfertile. Would I get better results with hand turning the eggs?

You might, but hand turning is a lot of work because you have to do it fast, watch the humidity and temperature, remember to turn them when needed and make sure not to drop any

when I did it by hand we got 5 out of 12 eggs

Has anyone did an experiment with turning by hand vs automatic turner? My eggs are on day 5 now with the turner and wondering if I should take out the turner and do it by hand.

I do prefer the automatic just because I'm usually really busy and forget to turn them otherwise
