Turning eggs?

Just found this post with the homemade turner! I love this idea, but has anyone used a homemade turner with a store bought 'bator? I'm looking at (maybe) the LG, because I am looking from an inexpensive "starter 'bator" as I don't have alot to spend. Wondering if it would work together?

Turn the eggs an odd number of times a day. Mark an X on one side and a O on the other. If you go to bed with the X side up, make sure the next day you go to bed with the O side up. Turn about 7 times a day.
