xadika, I understand your feelings and don't think you're being a troll. But...

These books have sooo many kids reading these days, and I think it's awesome. And those same kids are going to hunger for a better vampire story as they mature, tales with more maturity and challenge. You've listed some great authors, most of whom I've read. But I still enjoyed the Twilight books as well.

Yes, the author has gotten great media attention, as has JKR over Harry Potter. But to the same great effect: Kids are READING!

I have always loved books. Not just reading them, but the feel of them, the way they smell. The anticipation as I open the cover of a book for which I've been anxiously awaiting...
Not everyone loves books the way I do, but maybe more of them will discover that great love with these teen books as the introduction.

And xadika, read Meyer's Host, if you haven't already....

I'll have to say I didn't know if I would like it, but I did, At first I was thinkin whats the deal with everyone going GA GA over Edward, but you then realize its not the looks its the mysterious dark type attraction I guess.. I'm now reading the book and plan on reading the rest.. I also liked the fact that it was a "CLEAN" movie

I was one of those who didn't want to read the series but after much griping from my neighbor/friend, I borrowed her first book. I had trouble getting through the first two or three chapters, but then I couldn't put it down. I read the entire series in one extended weekend. It was insane. I became obsessed.

I was really frustrated with the second book. I was emotionally invested in Bella and Edward and to rip him out like that for majority of the book was a miserable read. Jacob is great as a friend, but I wasn't buying into the relationship. I hope they can flesh it out better in the movie.

DH was wonderful and sat with me in the movie theater to watch Twilight and then listened to me gripe about the lousy directing - she (the director) let a lot of scenes go by that should have been redone. Example: Rob's deer in the headlights stare while driving the car??

Read the book 100 x better than the movie I could not put them down
saw the movie and it leaves a lot of things out-
I watched the movie with my son and was telling him things that you would only know if you read the books now he is reading them

The books were a lot better. I thought the movie was done horribly and without the previous publicity of the books, it would've been booed. I could've made a better movie. I have to add that Robert Pattinson is VERY attractive, but I think the whole thing was Absolutely Killed by media and "rabid" fans. It was a lot better when only a few people knew about the books and it wasn't all over the place.
