Does anyone have any experience on hatching twins? My duck laid a twin egg that has already passed it’s estimated survival milestone and they are due to hatch in a week and a half. I know that hatching with twins in the egg is extremely dangerous. One is currently positioned on the big side of the egg and the other on the small side. Should BOTH ducks come out of the large side of the egg? What if one pips before the other? At what point should I assist? Ive assisted birds in the past hatching and I know all the precautions, I just don't know what will be different with my twin ducks, gunna be a very sad day if I lose them on hatch day.

image below is day 6-7
Other 2 pics after is day 15

I cannot give advice on this but would like to know how it turns out. There have been a couple times when we hatched that we saw two in an egg about halfway through. In both cases it appeared that one absorbed the other and we wound up with one Duckling.
They’re currently two weeks and one day and I still see two prominent heartbeats, The egg is absolutely huge. I’ll get pics later

Are you absolutely sure it's twins? There's a couple days around day 10-15 in the incubation period where the one embryo will look like two. Can you post some candling pics? I've never done it, but researched like crazy for my twin duck egg a couple years back. I can walk you through it if it makes it to term. What breed?

100% sure. I knew it when it first was laid because of the yolk and there’s two significant heart beats. I can send pics when I get home. The picture attached is around day 6-7
