the chicks I have helped I broke out a little encountered red veins or blood and stopped. put antibiotic ouintment on the menbrane so did not dry and waited a while before trying again there is a thread here called hands on hatching you should visit that one

Just a quick question for when it does pip, does anyone know how long I should wait after the first pip to pip the other end?

Can't wait to see how this goes! After they pip it could take hours before they are ready to come out. When you help if you see any blood stop they are not ready give them a few hour and try again. Good luck!
