Well like I said he normally pops them off fighting through the wire with my other roo. I don't have him anymore so the spurs has grown really long. One turns upward so I'm sure it pokes him in the rear when he roosts. When he stands, they cross behind him. He's 7 years old and I've never had to even file them before. He's the sweetest game roo and I don't worry about him using them on me but I can image he's uncomfortable and so are the girls. Over the years he's popped off probably about 3 or 4. It's always kept them nice and short. Thats why I was surprised DH couldn't twist them off easily. How hard did Smokey have to hit the wire to pop them off before? We did trim them but they are still long. I've never seen any blood in the coop after he's done it himself and it never appeared to bother him.
