Two flocks

If I have two flocks, each with their own rooster, and let them free range; will the roosters try to mate the others roos hens?

Seriously though... most the time yes.

How many hens each? How many coops, how far apart? How much "free range"? What are their ages?

Sometimes my hens like the other boy.... also! One of my boys is loyal to his harem. Stick by his main ladies but yes, tries to mate the other hens of they come near. While the second one of them, a bantam will sneak in and take advantage before the large fowl hens rooster can knock him off. At which point he gets chased away and comes back to do it again later. He has his own harem but constantly leaves them to stock the others. Meh, he's not fully rooster yet. But for other reasons the Stalker (now named after this post) is already only going to be around for only one generation for one reason or another!

Neither really fight, but both come running to knock the other off every time they see mating attempt regardless of who's hen it is. They were in the same coop, but recently separated and fenced off as I want my genetics controlled for hatching.

All roosters and flocks will behave individually though. Everything I do is try it and see.

I use wire fencing with an E-wire installed. It's very effective at keeping roosters from fighting each other through the fence... if an affordable solution is needed... I'm recently considering the portable poultry E wire.

Some people do separate coops with alternating free range times.
