Two legged egg thief.

Yes they can. Our last neighbors had a thing with stealing gas out of our cars. We had a car on ramps almost all summer. When I pulled it onto the ramps I am positive I filled it up recently. We finally got the money to fix it and pulled it off the ramps with an almost empty tank. Our gas issues developed when they lost their jobs. They got reemployed and the gas things would go away. Lose jobs again and that car is empty. Knew it was them, just couldn't prove it. Am.so glad they moved.away. will get to keep our gas for awhile now I hope.

I had a gas neighbor for a while too. They didn't drive a whole lot, but I noticed that I"d be short a few gallons everytime they would mow.
We put locking gas caps on both our cars.

See that's the thing as well. I HAVE offered him eggs, on more than one occasion. He always says he gets fresh eggs from his sister. But i never see his sister come over so I have no idea if he really does. He has commented.on going to look in the chicken house when we were still waiting on our first eggs. We never knew he did it until he said he did. Got eight eggs today while gone but our son was home all day. Thinking I will bring him a dozen eggs tomorrow just to see if this helps nip this in the bud. I would rather know he got the eggs from us than the whole sneaky thing.

I'd wait until he asked... if he's been stealing from you then it's really the least he can do... if he hasn't then he may very well just not want your eggs... either 'cuz his sister gives him some or 'cuz he doesn't really want those icky ol' chicken butt eggs... either way he'll ask if that changes.

But... if he was stealing, and notices the lock, and then you show up at HIS door... well he might just get defensive thinking you're thinking he stole them... I'd just keep to myself and wait for him to come to me...

If you lock the coop, and you have the low yield still, then you have your answer.

A lock will resolve some of the questions you have.

You both have a give and take relationship. You both shared what you had with each other. I wouldn't get angry in his situation with the tomatoes. You both had more than you could use so why not share. I will be sharing eggs with my neighbors. I will have more than what I can use, times are lean so why not share. But if my neighbor waited for me to go to work and then came over and cleaned me out. Well then I would be upset.

I have told the half a dozen or so folks that pass the house if they need eggs just go to the shed and take some out of the frig. Some stop later to pay for them, But I hit them with " I said take some not buy some" It comes back to me in Venison or fresh veggies, it all works out without a score card. One woman dropped off 24 egg cartons and wanted to pay for a dozen. I told her, don't be goofy, you just gave me 10.00 worth of cartons.

If you can, wait one day and make it look like you all left and try to catch him in the act. I bet he would be feeling pretty bad if you catch him in the act of stealing your eggs. Hide wait for him to go in and just as he is coming out step out and be like "What the Heii you think your doing?!" lol.

Time to get a padlock on the coop. I have a flock of newer girls. They recently started laying and he number per.day has been increasing steadily. My neighbor has talked about his fondness of fresh eggs more than once. Well in the last week my poor producing days are when he is home all day and we are not. The day before yesterday I got nine eggs, today only two, out of forty birds. Sounds awful fishy to me. Time for the padlock

I really like those game cameras. then I can see what has been around the coop or even around my house while I was gone.

Well he really is a good neighbor, the only one we have, today he came with apples to feed to our hog. I have the lock up and my yield is way better. A pain in the butt but getting more eggs again. I have also brought him some eggs, this should cull his.need to take them. My biggest thing is the extras I have are meant to be sold. Will keep him in eggs I think and may e this way he will offer some cash, if not I think we will manage. Would rather give them than for someone to take them.
