Two RiR.. any way they are NOT roosters? (Pic heavy)

Background. Out of 6 RiR chicks, 2 started crowing, and they have been sold. Now I have 4 left. For the most part they look the same (mostly with two major differences mentioned in each of the two birds below). Now, the rest of my 'roosters' are not crowing. Both these birds are 12 weeks old.

Now the 2nd. Notice that his 'face' isn't as red as "Rooster 1".

THE BIG question, is there anyway these could be pullets at 12 weeks? Again no crowing out of these ones (two others previously sold, crowed at 9 - 10 weeks).

Nope they are 100% roosters. Sorry.

Sorry, but yep they are roosters. At 12 weeks, a hen normally doesn't have wattles and a comb so big and bright. Also, note the tail feathers, they are much longer and thicker than a hen. All roosters don't crow at the same age or time. I've had a rooster that was 6 months old before he ever figured out that he could crow. Then I've a baby roosters start to crow at about 8 weeks. You can't just go on crow alone. Sorry, but to me they are roosters. Did you buy from a hatchery? You can sometimes get replacements from a hatchery and even from some individuals if they sold what they thought were hens that turned out to be roo's.

I had the same thing happen last year. I bought 5 RIR's and & 7 Barred Rocks at local orschelns. Out of the 12, I ended up with 7 roos, needless to say I was upset. I decided not to ask for refund, and just bought 12 more. The same thing, 6 roos. I was pi@@ed at that point. At least up until they were big enough to eat. Everytime since then, I pick up each chick and sex it myself before it goes in the box. I've only failed 4 or 5 times out of prolly 40 chicks now. The employees at Orscheln's don't approve of me picking out my own chicks, but between the sick ones they've given me and the roos, that were "pullets", I don't care anymore.
