We had a period of nasty weather or I would have posted sooner. These are three of the slw and ee mix chicks. All are from the same parents. Pic 1-- the comb is much redder than that my night vision was on and had forgotten to shut it off. Pic 2 is same chick-- I read that red in an Easter egger is more likely rooster?? He's darker than his buff egger mom. Pic 3 is of the other suspect. I'd turned off night vision so it's the correct and pic 4 is what the rest of the brood looks like. We had to rehome 3 roosters in the past year due to tractor supply oops, they're happy and producing with other SLW's but this one is becoming a head scratcher. The two "gentlemen" are squaring up with everyone else so maybe dominant hens?? That doesn't explain the other 4 looking like picture four though. All our other adult chickens other than these little guys parents are either purebred or black sex link. They're molting a bit right now but are very rough and tumble any time of day or night and going through food and water like crazy. For a surprise batch they're astounding me for how sturdy they are. My mom was struggling to keep the red and silver one from wriggling out and trying to fly.

(I messed up the order a bit. Pic 5 is the one with the red feathers I mentioned.)
