My cochin banty got out and must've chased my banty rose comb and they're gone!! I noticed around 5. My rosecombs freerange cause they don't leave my yard. I live in a neighborhood and checked everyone's backyard, trees, under decks...everywhere like 4 times. -up to a mile away. Would they go farther??
We're getting up at 5am and listening for crows. Do you think they'll crow if they're stressed?
Just in case, I have a few eggs to incubate to get more...how long will my hens be fertile?

I cannot believe it. My hubby and I searched the area again from 5:30 am (crowing time) to 7 when Rus had to go to work. I was in the middle of making up some flyers and I heard a faint crow. I ran to the neighbors (about 50 ft.) and I heard it coming again from they're landscaping. I peeked in the bushes and my cochin is stuck down a basement window well.
He's a little bloodied up but looked good. He was so happy to get out of there, he crowed non-stop (even while I held him) I threw him in the coop (he's the instigator...little #$%&!!) then I ran back to the well and noticed it opened up to a crawlspace. I heard a soft clucking coming from the darkness and there was my main man
He looked a little worse but he had all his waddles and comb and both eyes!! He was a little shooken up. That cochin must've been chasing him around that dingy crawlspace all night!!!
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh......I'm taking a break and then it's bath time.
