Ive read both to put in the muscle and not to put in the muscle because is causes permenant muscle damage. Ive read to inject in the neck, into the leg, and into the breast. Seems the breast would be best, but where? which side? What kind of muscle damage? Ive also read its best to put the injectable into the mouth.
Im asking because around here they dont carry anything for poultry, but Tylan-50 and Tylan-200 injectable and Duramycin-10 (goes in the water). Help please!! My birds are getting pretty sick!

I give mine Tylan 50 when they seem really sick.

Usually I give the injection just under the skin either in the back of the neck or I lay the chicken on its side and give the shot just under the skin on the breast. I switch back and forth so one spot doesn't get too sore.

This came from a site one of the Mods posted when giving someone else help.

Tylan 50

* 1/2 cc in breast for 3 consecutive days for adult sized birds.
* 1/4 cc in breast for 3 consecutive days for bantam sized birds.

Notes

* Make sure you angle the needle so you inject just under the skin, and not deep in the muscle tissue.
* You will need to use a large needle on your syringe due to the solution thickness of Tylan. (20 to 22 gauge needle works best)
* Make sure you inject in a different spot each day.
* Tylan can be purchased at most farm supply stores, over the counter in the cattle section.

Warning

Do not eat eggs after treatment for at least one week after the last injection.
