URGENT - Rooster going downhill fast!

So sorry for your loss. It would really be good if you could call your state vet and get a necropsy on him. We see people here a lot who are dealing with illnesses, and willing to buy medications, but who won’t get a necropsy. It can really save you money in the long run. I would close your flock. Birds should not leave your flock or attend shows
I always get a necropsy done on sick birds, but I just can't afford it right now. I have him in the freezer in case I find a way to pay for it. The sick birds are at my house right now. They have not had contact with the rest of my flock for almost three weeks. My flock stays at a property 10 miles away, so they are most likely fine. But I won't be going to a show for another 2 weeks.

For a necropsy, it is best to keep the body cold, but not frozen. I’m not sure what TN state lab charges, but I have heard to always let them know that it is a backyard chicken which should cost less. Also, since they freak out about things like avian influenza, you could express questions about wanting to know what illness he had. I got a lot of info when I called my own state vet, and the cost was less than what others had said. Good luck.

The closest place that does necropsy costs $88.50. That's around the same price that I paid the last time. Going to try to sell some birds to pay for it. The ones I'm selling have had 0 contact with any birds that have gone to shows.

Update
Hen is doing okay this morning. Gave 0.75 cc of Tylan50 injected. No facial swelling, no mites, no nasal drainage. Only concerning symptom is the crackling when breathing. Sulfa drugs should be here by tomorrow. Going to give those to her as soon as I get them. Not sure how long after her symptoms stop to reintroduce her to the main flock. Any thoughts?
