Tylan Dosage?

I know on the powdered Tylan it was 1 teaspoon per gallon when I called the company. I use liquid Baytril, it is marketed as a parrot medicine mostly and can be bought w/o RX here. I have used pills in the past but don't have the bottle to tell me the mg.

We went with 1.5 tablets of baytril down his throat. Husband was thrilled, especially when the peacock pooped all down his shirt and pants while he was holding him. Nothing smells nicer than a sick peacock on medication pooping on you LOL!
I did a quick check on him this morning as I was running out the door on the way to work and he did sound a little better. Only a couple more nights of this<g>

Just wondering why you would advise against the tylan powder?

Are you sure it doesn't have gape worm or Air Sac Mite?? if the bird was exposed to eating alot of earth worms and or snails or slugs it could have gape worm..which sounds like a respiratory problem because of associate problems that go with the gape.

each and ever year some of my pheasant get this problem and i have to treat them for it , our turkeys never do but some of the pheasant will get it beause they love eating the slimy bugs..

Just figured id throw this out there encase your tylan treatment doesn't work..but keep in mind the gape can kill to if left to long without treatment.

hope your bird recovers for you..

Tylan water soluble is 1/2 to 1 teaspoon for 14 days.. id go with the 1 tea if using this as it is what id use on a turkey size bird
works well for Coryza and CRD

L-S 50 is a good product to. 1/2 to 1 teaspoon per gallon for only 5-7 days..
works well for Mycoplasma Groups and works for CRD

When using injectable Baytril- make your are using the correct strength for the dose- there is a small animal injectable (22mg/ml) and a large animal injectable prep (100mg/ml). For dogs and cats, the dosing is about a mg per pound twice daily or 2mg/pound once daily. I don't have the bird dose, but it's probably similiar- 11 pound bird would get 22mg injectable SQ or orally daily. Hope you have some improvement!

One of my Serama roos is wheezing so I gave him what I had on hand which was VetRx. Then I ordered Tylan. 3 days later I got it in the mail. It says Tylovet Soluble, granules for oral solution. Is this the same as Tylan? I ordered from First State Vet Supply. I was expecting more than what was sent for $50 but my boy is worth it so I shouldn't complain....just not expecting so little of it. Anyways, is it ok to treat with this stuff now..since I already gave a couple drops of VetRx? I hardly notice the wheezing after 3 days now, but can hear it just a little.

can I just add that along with Tylan an "All in One" (https://pigeonsuppliesplus.com/coll...ll-in-one-200-grams-pigeon-supplies-plus-line) and the dosage and info can be found (http://hopkinslivestock.com/oral_dosing_article.htm) .........for All In One is a powder that gives you the best value and covers the largest range of health issues. I believe this product will help keep your flock healthy. Coccidiosis is probably the most common pigeon (chicken or fowl) health problem and All In One contains Amprolium, and is listed as both a treatment and a preventative for Coccidiosis. Canker (Trichomoniasis) another common health issue is both preventable and treatable. All In One contains the safe drug, Ronidazole, an effective drug. The third most common health problem is worms, and "All In One" contains Levamisol which treats for most worms with the exception of Tape worms. Tylan is the drug of choice for respiratory and you’ll find it in All In One. The fifth ingredient includes probiotics to rebuild gut bacteria, and relieve stress....Cheers
