I dont think I would have enough of one kind :s Tylan variation will a safe bet to treat all but ....:|You could use amoxicillin, but the poultry dose is very high, it's ~56 mg per pound twice a day.
Hi ya - recently I had a hen very poorly with soft egg problems/infections - took her to vets (cost £70) they injected with fluids & prescribed 250mg amoxicillin twice a day for 5 days (she’s a red island red, 18mths old) after 3days she was 100% better - Martha is a rescue hen & the smallest of the 4 I rescued. Hope your girls get better xBTW would it be possible to treat some with amoxicillin, as I have some spare ones left
That's an extortionate amount to see a vet! I think that they must think that either everyone has petplan insurance or the streets are paved with gold! At least you got her sorted. I have six ex battery hens and I'd say that when they start laying soft shelled eggs than they will finish laying soon. I've had mine a year and I only have one that lays occasionally. But they are such friendly hens, I'm not bothered about the eggs!Hi ya - recently I had a hen very poorly with soft egg problems/infections - took her to vets (cost £70) they injected with fluids & prescribed 250mg amoxicillin twice a day for 5 days (she’s a red island red, 18mths old) after 3days she was 100% better - Martha is a rescue hen & the smallest of the 4 I rescued. Really? In the US it would cost me $45 to walk in the door, at least $50 for fluids, then probably $25 for antibiotics. That's an extortionate amount to see a vet!
