Tylosin 50 injectable

After I have measured out the 50 ml of water and added it to the container of powder and mixed them together is the dose I measure out for each bird injectable or not?

I am going to say not. It is probably better if you give it orally instead of injecting it.

You can syringe fluid down the right side of th chicken’s throat with a syringe. Here is the link on giving medicines, and here is a picture where to put the syringe:

The directions were given to add 50 ml of water to the tylosin vial. I am not sure why you just added 40 ml, since that changes the dosage. Since you are giving it orally, you can add another 10 ml of tap or bottles water to make 50 ml or 50 mg per ml.

The dosage then is 1/4 ml or 0.25 ml per pound given 3 times a day for 5 days.

I am grateful for your response which I find very helpful. I have four 10 ml vials of sterile water for injections. I have taken out 1/2 teaspoon of the Tylosin powder to mix with water not knowing what else to do. I feel if I take out another 1/2 teaspoon then add my sterile water and mix it I should have an injectable version of Tylosin. This matters to me as this particular Sebright refuses to drink medicated water. I am scared of forcing liquid down its throat as I could aspirate it.

I missed that as well. She may have been confused by the dosage of the oral soluble powder in an earlier post. This type of tylosin is one I have never seen, and we have been trying to help with mixing.

Yeah, been following along and got the feeling this was a certain amount of powder that when mixed with 50 ml of sterile water makes a 50 mg per ml solution.

Now that 1/2 teaspoon has been removed, and without knowing the specifics of the powder, we don't know how many mg's were removed.

IMO, this makes calculating the proper dose quite difficult.

I will use the powdered Tylosin 50 orally as suggested as I suspect it's no longer sterile. I have now purchased a glass bottle of liquid injectable Tylosin 50. Can someone tell me the correct injectable dose per weight of my chicken and how often and for how long this should be administered.

• 4 times a day - 0.25 ml per pound four times a day
• 3 times a day - 0.33 ml per pound three times a day

It really needs to be given multiple times a day to work.
