type of rooster

If you don't believe he is a SLW then why don't you go to the roosters farm and get a blood test. SLW Roosters have the single comb. Hens do not but roosters do. I have a SLW rooster of my own and he looks exactly like this rooster does. Her rooster has the lacing of the SLW. I know my chickens.

How exactly does that work for breeding? Rose combs are dominant over straight combs. Combs are not sex linked at all.

I'm sure you have a straight combed SLW rooster. They do happen from time to time. At stated, straight combs are recessive to rose combs, and they crop up in many lines. But regardless of combs, the OP's rooster is a mixed breed, not a pure slw.

A blood test for WHAT exactly? To verify he is a chicken? And sex linked combs in Wyandottes? That trait does not occur in even sex linked breeds.

It does look like it has some SLW in it but it can't be a pure SLW as it has "spangled" feathers instead of "laced".
Is it possible for a SLW to have a single comb? As far as I've heard they only have cushion combs.

They have rose combs, and seeing as single combs are recessive they can be carried by some lines.
