Well first off im using one of those cheap little red thermomoters that you get with the ''chick-u-bator''

a little piece of the red stuff separated from the rest of the red stuff and i thought that i could you it by the start of where it separated would be the right temp. , but when i got home ( if what i think it right about the thermomoter ) it would have been like 108

im hoping the area of air the separates the two red masses heats up faster and pushed it up, . .. .... . .how do i tell if the eggs r alive, I also have no idea how long it was up that high

you can candle the eggs or i use a steascope like doctors use to see if i can hear the heart beats and the chick moving around in the egg. How many days are you into the hatch?

You need an accurate thermometer. Preferably two! Shake down the one you have, until the air bubble is cleared, but definitely get another.

Don't worry about humidity until day 18- at least with chickens. I don't know that it would be any different with quail.
