Distracted driving = Driving a car that you aren't sure if the speedometer is accurate on then coming up on (and passing) a state cop. You really hope he's doing 10 mph under the speed limit as you slide by in an '83 Camaro Z28, then procede to alternate between checking the speedometer and looking in the rear view mirror. Didn't get chased down, so it must be fairly accurate.

Hope you get that fixed soon!

I did something similar a few weeks ago.

Pulled next to a cop at a red light.Green light comes and I floor is since I have a hybrid.Little did I know I had hit the POWER button with my elbow. Normally I am on ECO which is slow and you really have to push the peddle to get up to speed.Well in the power mode I shot forward like a horse out of the gate at the race track.

Totally mortified looking in my review wondering if the cop thought I was trying to drag race him, lol.

Uh huh... admit it, you were trying to race him!

My brother pulled up next to a Corvette at a traffic light once, and the driver of the Corvette signalled that he wanted to race (my brother was in his lifted truck with a built engine). My brother took off from the light when it changed, but the 'vette turned out to be an unmarked cop car. He didn't give my brother a ticket (probably could be considered entrapment), but did tell him that he should have noticed the trooper hat on the dash.

I'm not sure anything needs fixed on my car, just some days it seems I'm passing everybody on the road. Other days they are all passing me.

Not(racing) with my lunch box car (as the kids call it),lol. I might play a bit with some on the road who ride up my rear, but I never ever mess with the po po.

Just be glad we did not get pulled over.Tickets are so darn high. Then you have your insurance going up for 3 years.Ugh is right.Dh says I did it(powered up) on purpose too.

I'm a speedaholic. The road I live on is posted 55 mph. I normally (if no one is with me!!!) drive 75 to 90 on it. Passed a county cop one day, he just hit his lights and turned them off and kept going. Just a friendly warning to slow it down. I did...for about 2 minutes...

I have a little 2008 Sunburst Orange Saturn Vue XE. My daughter named it Orangie the day I brought it home from the dealership. I love my Orangie. The fastest I've had it up to was 110 on Rt 460 coming back from Princeton about a week after I got it. Some dude pulled up next to me at the light at Wal Mart and started revving his engine and looking at me. Well, I know the light cycle at that intersection (cause I am there a lot!!

) so I knew when the light was gonna turn. The same time the light turned green I floored it. Left the dude in the dust. Orangie felt like she was only going about 75 mph, not 110. Course I slowed down to 75...no need to draw unwanted attention from the coppers!

But Orangie is getting up in years now, so I don't race anyone anymore. My mother and sister both want me to change the vinyl I have across my windshield (it says "Orangie") to "Speed Demon". I said...Uh, no...then the cops WOULD be out looking for me!!!

geez.... soo glad there wasn't someone inattentively blowing through a yellow light when you jumped off full power at that intersection....

I ran rescue for a few years - people playing car games scare me.

Actually I ALWAYS wait until AFTER the light goes green. Then I LOOK in all directions.Only THEN do I go. I have had people simply drive through intersections when the light was red(already) for them, but I was able to stop before they smashed into me.I guess many are busy on their phones.

Lol,even waiting all that time I still got past the police.

Dh says in his country people are honking the horns for you to go when the light is yellow. It goes yellow to green. Most have stick so that yellow is the time to get into gear, but people are ready to go by yellow and honking like mad dogs.He refuses to drive there.I would too. I am a very careful driver but I know that even if I wait and look THEN go some idiot can hit me regardless of whether or not my car is in power or economic mode.

Sorry I guess I made it sound like I was a nut driver.Far from it.Seen enough accident pictures to know better. But again I will admit to going the speed limit if someone is ....what do you call it....tailgating(????). I don't think going the speed limit is necessarily playing car games even when you know it annoys the person riding up your butt.Ofcourse I would never slam on the breaks.Naw,going the speed limit is enough to drive most insane

No, the intersection at Wal Mart is pretty tame. It's not you usual packed intersection. I always watch traffic and on that day there was no one coming out of Wal Mart. It's basically a 3 way intersection because no one comes from the other side away from Wal Mart. It's a driveway. Now if I come up on someone doing the speed limit, I don't try to blow past them. I slow down and watch and see what they are gonna do. Most of the time, I just stay behind them but if I'm on my way to work, I'll pass them if I'm in the long passing zones. I like to give them and myself plenty of room. I will absolutely NOT pass at night. I don't even go above the speed limit at night. We have too many deer up here. I have never hit one

but I have had one run into the side of my vehicle. Luckily it was at night and I was only going about 45. If I had been going faster, it would have flipped me. It was a huge buck. He hit the front quarter panel and knocked me up on my drivers side wheels and over into the oncoming lane. Thank God there was no one coming and it didn't go all the way over. It just came back down on all 4 wheels. The poor deer died instantly. He broke his neck. No, night time is a scary time to drive here!!! I do my speeding in the daylight and on the straightaways... And ONLY when I'm by myself. If my daughter or one of my parents is with me, I do the speed limit or less. (Even though my daughter (she's 8) complains about Mommy going too slow to suit her. lol...She's a mini speed demon)
