UK Member Please Say HI

Hi Ben and welcome from sunny County Durham.

Will be coming up over the border tomorrow to Hawick to buy a carriage that was originally built just over 100 years ago in Newcastle, so we are kind of bringing it home and I'll be buying some award winning haggis whilst I am up there. How are things with you and your flock?

Thankyou for replying!! Oh I hope so I'm pretty sure I got it early enough so we will have to see. Shipped eggs is like doing the lottery you might win you might not lol!

You are most welcome :D
It sure is a lottery! I've had 100% hatch from shipped eggs but on the other end of the scale I've had 30%.

hola from East lothian in scotland

Hi again Ben :frow

Welcome to the thread!

Hi again Ben :frow

Welcome to the thread!
I have just candled them and out of 48 I have 9 duds and 2 blood rings. Thought that was pretty good for shipped!! Now to leave them until next Thursday when lockdown for the quail begins

hi all. flock doing well. I'm have a bit of a problem with my young silkie that wants to sleep outside. you could put this down to bullying but I have 2 coop... 1 that is empty as a all the other birds insist on cramming in to one. hey again @yorkshirecoop yeah I think this forum was a mistake for me as Is helping fuel my chicken addiction.

The bottom.of my chicken coop is flooded been so much rain

Hello everyone from the uk!! I'm from Wiltshire and I thought I'd ask a couple questions as I have different eggs in the incubator. I have no birds yet as I want to raise them from egg to bird etc. What is everyone's favourite duck, chicken or quail? I have runner eggs, silkie eggs and Japanese quail eggs. I was thinking maybe ducks because I've heard they have a lot of character but wanted to see everyone's opinions. I thought this would make a interesting thread

It could be bullying as silkies are generally at the bottom of the pecking order. My crazy WCB polish have bouts of deciding to roost on top of the coop rather than going on but once I've poppped them back in for a couple of nights they go back to going in the coop. Every so often they do this and goodness knows why as they are over 3 years old now so should have learnt!

Not a mistake being here on BYC as everyone needs their chicken addiction fueling ;)

I mainly love my chickens (polish) but have hatched and raised cortunix quail in the past. They were fab little birds but unfortunately the dog didn't like them and killed one. After that it was a mission for her to eradicate them at all costs and I rehomed them.
No ducks here I'm afraid as they are way too messy for my OCD

Do you have a seperate incubator for hatching in? Or are you hatching then cleaning the incubator out so you can carry on with the other eggs? If so have you thought about the high humidity that will affect your eggs that are not due to hatch?
