UK Member Please Say HI

Hi everybody. Been a bit quiet on here recently. How's all doing? How did you get on with your incubating @Nethielka and @Warriorgal? Hope it's gone well.
I've just had to set some eggs. Cut a long story short I had a hardcore broody, she wouldn't break so I decided to put her on some eggs, then she stopped being broody! Sounds about right! So now I have my incubator in the kitchen warming up ready for the 8 Araucana eggs! If you want to see more I'm logging it on a thread. Day 1 so not much happening yet!

Hey, I've been busy with work. Still waiting for the eggs to hatch. Three of them have been rocking since Wednesday but now they are still and the hatching is day overdue, so I am stressed and worried.

It's worrying for sure. I'm not sure what to suggest. Have you got the humidity set high enough? I think it's about 65%. Sometimes the membrane can 'shrinkwrap' them. If the temperature has been a bit low it can also cause a late hatch. Keep us posted.:fl

Just did the floating test. All bar two duds. Two dead chicks in eggs. I am both pissed off and depressed about this.
Everything was set up perfectly, 37.7C, 40-45% humidity, turning 3x a day. Last three days of regular hatch 70% humidity, no turning, still 37.7. Brand new Brinsea Eco Mini.

Anyway, disinfected the whole thing, set 16 new eggs and waiting game begins anew. Still depressed.

I am so sorry to hear this Nethielka, its so frustrating and after waiting for such a long time too. By the sounds of it you did all you can, not much else you could do. Lets hope now that the new 16 eggs will make it all worthwhile for you.

Oh no. Thats not good. I'm not sure if it makes much difference but I've set my temperature at 37.5c. I know it's only .2c difference but would that make a difference? Did you candle the eggs at day 7 to see what was happening? On a plus note, if you have just set more eggs today I'll have a hatchalong with you!

One of my friends has just had two bad hatches. She did everything 'by the book' and only had one hatch but died after a couple of hours. These things happen. It's difficult especially if you have done everything right. This is my first time with chickens so I'm checking, adjusting, panicking, worrying repeat!
