First eggs!!
I haven’t been checking the nest box but I noticed they were hanging around in the coop this morning so I went for a peek and there were 3 tiny eggs! Could be off one chicken. I have bantams so their eggs are gonna be small but how cute! They are cold so not laid today and one of them is making a right fuss so I’m guessing she’s gonna lay another one? Egg song? Or shouting at me cos I stole her eggs??

Ok she was definitely shouting about me stealing her eggs. Stomping around the garden shouting. I took one back out and she followed me straight to the nest box and looked at me like ‘put it right back there!’ and now she’s quiet again!
Now I feel terrible for taking her eggs!!!!
I know Pekin bantams get broody very easily and make good mums but I didn’t anticipate any problems just collecting eggs before they’re broody!

That is so funny! Just take her eggs, she'll get over it! You could always leave a fake one if it makes you feel better.

I discovered this evening when someone asked that I dont' know how many chickens I have we've lost 2 chicks over the last couple of months at various stages and I have 1 new baby. Need to sit down adn add it up!

I gave up counting - I now say I have 50-ish

Hi @Warriorgal. All is well here. I've kept one of the little roos from my hatch, neville! It's funny watching him get chased by the girls! He has no respect for his elders! How are you and joffrey and the girls doing?

Yeah birds all good although some have started their molt Feathers everywhere and not much rent being paid by them! Eggs have dropped off dramatically!

Finally got the 'lid' on my Breda coop. Work to be done still but progress! Thankful for great friends & neighbors
