Can you post a pic?

Hi Donald and welcome.

What sort of poultry do you have and how many? Are you getting plenty of eggs?
My girls are cranking up production a bit now. I got an all time high of 19 yesterday! Whoo Hoo!...Unfortunately that is from 29 hens, so there are still some slackers!.

Desperately wanting one to go broody but they will probably make me wait until June like previous years. Meanwhile I still have a few more surplus cockerels from last year to process.

Hi Barbara :frow

I see you on so just popping by to make sure your ok? :hugs
7 eggs have made it to lockdown, 5 black tail and 2 pekin. :fl they hatch ok. The polish I set are on day 6 so I candled when I moved the 7. 15/16 are fertile and growing well :woot

Hope you have been enjoying this settled weather :D Good going on your egg production! I can't seem to get past 9 in one day :(

Any how's hope your all well up there and I will catch you soon ;)

Hi Kim

Yes all good here thanks. Weather has been fab. I've been able to get a bit done in the garden and I've bought a second hand chicken coop off ebay that is to dismantle and bring home and use as a breeding/grow out pen. I also bought one of those little ones off the same lady, but when you get a look at them in the flesh, they are so tiny, it's really only suitable for a trio of bantams and even then, they'll need some extra run adding on. Don't know how they dare manufacture and sell them for large fowl. Ian is talking about buying me some fancy bantams to go in it, but if I get an obliging broody in the near future, I'll probably get some hatching eggs from Durham Hens as I really fancy some lavender pekins assuming they have improved their fertility.

Such a shame that you have so few from your hatch. Hope they all hatch. Great news on the Tolbunt eggs though, especially as they were what you really wanted anyway. Fingers crossed they continue to do well.

Have you been out on Harry at all. Ashamed to say I haven't been out since a week yesterday, despite the fine weather....so much else to do!. Must get Rebel out tomorrow and then Jo is coming Friday and we will get RascaL and MeMe out then and a young friend, who I haven't seen for ages is coming on Sat morning and we will take Rebel and MeMe out. Hopefully, having been out the previous days, they will be a little more sensible and she will manage OK.

Think that is all my news for now. Look forward to reading that you have some little fluff balls make an appearance over the weekend.

Hi Kim

Congratulations on your hatch. I've been following your other threads to see how it was going, when there was no update here. Shame you got 3 blacktail roos but still it's better than all 5! Hope both pekins are female, but I suppose it will be a while before you will know with them... are they both lavender?.

Delighted to report I've managed to ride 3 days in a row as planned. Day off tomorrow as we are going over to my sister's for Sunday lunch.... her husband does a mean roast dinner (well actually an extremely generous one!) ..... so poor Rebel will have even more weight to carry on Monday when I hope to get him out again. Feeling pretty knackered now though and just want to crawl into bed!.... In fact, since I've done most of my yard chores and it's raining outside and it's a bank holiday weekend and Ian is working, I really think I will go and treat myself to a little nap!
