Hi and welcome to the thread! :frow

Sounds like you have your hands full ... Good luck with your goose eggs- be sure to update us on how it goes (and post us some photos to drool over ;)).

Will do, thanks! I've never done Geese before so it's going to be a bit nerve wracking!
How exciting! I love having chicks, my Brahma are 5 week old now and are in the ugly bug stage.
What breeds do you have?

How long do your chicks stay on the chick crumbs by the way? My Warren chicks seem too big for the crumbs but the bantams are still tiny!

Hi everyone! I'm Head of Poultry at a Farm Park in Surrey and I look after various breeds of chickens, ducks, geese, quails, turkeys, pheasants and small aviary birds!

Anyone else from Surrey?!

Hi and welcome to the thread!:frow
I'm just one county over, in Hampshire, so not too far from you.
Sound like you've got a dream job to me! I have to fit all my birds in around daily life and children etc...
Do you incubate species too? It must be fascinating!

It's lovely, but not without it's challenges!

We do incubate - mostly chickens, and in particular polish, serama and frizzle types! We also have a few dedicated mums who we allow to incubate their own!

It's sounds great! I may be picking your brains as it sounds like you've loads of experience too!
My sister tried to hatch Polish Bantams last year but didn't have much luck. Only one hatched and guess what, it was a Cockerel! Typical. I blame the incubator as it was a 40 quid Chinese eBay thing.
I've never been lucky enough to have a hen that hatches her own. I'm told its the best way really..;)

We had a batch of eggs, which at the time didn't know what they were. Any way, I think the majority were Polish, and they seemed to pip the wrong end... only one survived:hit.

We also used a cheap incubator (Janoel 12). Not sure if its the incubator or the breed. Would be interesting to know. Part of me is blaming myself for doing something wrong, but not sure what. These are our first chickens. Not sure what the other chick was (posted on another thread).

Romford by the way.... hello everyone!
