Yes these goslings are pretty stinky! It's dragged on too which has made it even worse :(

So gosling update ~ 4 and 5 have hatched. #5 I had to finish the zip for it and number #4 I had to totally help out  It's still alive but not quiet got it's navel closed over so it looks a bit messy :( I'm trying to keep it clean and :fl it makes it. #6 has no action.
You're getting good at assisting now see...;)
Well done. Glad they made it!:wee

My polish chick isn't doing so good today. Woke up to it doing the splits and also noticed deformed toes on each foot. Currently have it in a teacup with kitchen towel in to keep it stood up right and have been giving it vitamins but not looking good

Thanks but I still don't like meddling with them!
Just moved 4 & 5 into the brooder and gosh you can really see the difference in size to the first three who have a couple of days on them. The malpositioned one still looks a tad weak but ok. It's navel area is drying up, I just hope the others don't start pecking at it :fl
Weather should be warm today so the first three can go out on the grass for a bit to let the other 2 have a bit peace.
I'm just glad it's over with now and I can get the incubator cleaned out and get the pheasant eggs into it.

Hello everyone!

My and my partner live off grid in The Forest of Dean, in Gloucester UK. 3 weeks ago we received 4x8 week old chicks as a gift from a friend. Yesterday we also received 2x5-6 week old Peking Bantams, along with a chicken house. We've made a run using old Portakabin window guards and put some eco (free) toys in to keep them occupied. They all seem really happy and I can't wait for them to be settled enough to let them explore more of the area.
Everything I have researched online about keeping chickens has lead me back to this site so I joined!
I am planning on building a new house for the girls to grow and stretch and let them be relitively free range! They are being let out daily between 8-9am and being put to bed between 8-9pm as I'm trying to give them as much sunlight and playtime as possible!
Correct me if I'm wrong but what we have is

1x Rhod island red called Lulu
1x white star call Dorris
2x Peking Bantams, Dotty and Marsha
2x black rocks (need help naming!)

After the first 4 finished bickering and scrapping after a week or so, it looks like one of the black rocks at the top of the order! When we put the Bantums in yesterday the others where a bit horrible to them but they all seem fine now. I have created a safe place for the new arrivals both inside and outside and they're slowing getting to grips with their new and scary environment. They like to hover in the doorway and watch the others!
Looking forward to keeping you posted on their progress and getting some ideas on how to make them happier!

I am way down south in Bere Forest, near Southampton but not quite as cut off as you I dont think.
We have 16 Warren hens, a Broiler cockerel named Jesus, 7 x 6 week old bantams and 4 more warren chicks at 6 weeks old too. Oh and goose eggs in the incubator!
That and four daughters driving me nuts (age 1-13yrs)...we like things busy!

Thankyou :hugs my others are loving this weather! I have some duck eggs in the bator which I have no clue what day they are on! By looking at them I'd say in the next few days but I totally forgot to write down when I put them in
