I’m sorry to hear about Jemima @Chickencountryuk :hugs

A few words for you that a very dear friend sent me. I always think of these when I have a loved pet pass away ~

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Thankyou YC. That is beautifully written. Jemima and Mrs quail passed away within two days of each other. This is significant for me and my family because they were the last two of my first hens and quails. They were how it all started for us.
And I still have lottie who will probably be gone on Tuesday. It never rains it pours. I just hope my eggs in the incubator will be OK. Thankyou for your kind words.

In that meadow is a beautiful apple tree.

Sorry to hear about your birbs :( It's always hard losing an animal.

Got a non-chicken related question - I managed to throw out my back whilst turning out the horse. Any suggestions how to lessen the crippling pain apart from Co-codamol and such like? I've already tried hot shower, cold pack, lying on a hard floor, sitting down with a pillow... The pills are doing nothing.

Ugh.. I feel for you! What kind of pain is it and where? You can take paracetamol and ibuprofen along with the codamol. I know it sounds wrong but some exercise does help. Cold is best for it to reduce swelling/inflammation.

I have a bulging disc which causes sciatica down my leg and I have to go to the chiropractor for it sorting out. Mostly I can manage it but if not 2-3 trips there usually sorts it.

It's intense dull pain with spasms (8 out of 10) in my lower back, just above my bum. I took all the pills I could and it did nothing. Exercise - impossible right now, I can barely shuffle my left leg. I really don't want it to be a bulging disc so I am praying for just a really bad muscle strain...

If it’s really bad I would call 111 but what you describe does sound like mine. The muscles do go into spasm around it which makes it worse. You may need something stronger pain wise, tramadol, Valium and amitriptyline are all good for pain, relaxing & getting to sleep. You will need a dr prescription for these though.

Like Ice gel is also good to rub on for a limited amount of relief.
