So sorry that you lost them in such a way, @Chickencountryuk. Traffic accidents and the like are so sudden; with illness or age, you at least get the opportunity to say goodbye and make peace with the loss.
She's had them both for several years now, before that there was Folly and Mr Bean, also both rescues. She likes having them around, and as she has a field in front of her property, she'd rather have them to look at and enjoy; rescues were the obvious choice now that she doesn't ride. She used to go riding over the hills for a day at a time.
I'm noticing several problem birds during moulting, really. There's one hen in particular that keeps going after the pullets; noticed her doing it twice today. She'll come up and pull out a hunk of feathers, no warning, no pecking, just a plucking. Such jealousy!
