UK Member Please Say HI

It's heading your way! :p

Drove through it but spent a few days in France to avoid it ;). My little black silkie went to the vets before I went away, think it’s Mycoplasma. The antibiotics have made her less fluidy but she’s still going to get the chop so she doesn’t infect the rest of them. Just got to get the balls to do it sooner rather than later.

Hello! Recently moved to the UK from the US and I miss my polish hens so much. I live in Suffolk, Near Bury St Edmunds and cannot find any breeders or anyone with Polish chickens for that matter. Do any of you happen to know where I can get some?

does anyone in or near to South Wales have white hatching eggs for sale? I would like to utilize my new broody and I don't have a white egg layer yet (I do have cream/tinted, so it needs to be really white). That apart, I seek a rare/heritage LF breed that will like/survive a free range foraging environment. I can collect if you can supply :) Many thanks

I've just signed up today. I'm in East Sussex (via Tennessee and Boston).

I've wanted Polands (as they call them here) for years and couldn't find a breeder, either. They're out there - I know this from the Facebook pages - but I never managed to make a connection. In the end, I bought an incubator and half a dozen eggs off the internet in May. To my astonishment, I had a 100% hatch! Now we wait to see how many boys I end up with.

If you do decide to buy fertile eggs, I'll happily recommend the guy I bought off of. I knew he was going to be okay when he had upwards of 250 positive ratings and, like, three negative ones. I don't know if you can request specific colors, but I got a mix: one gold, two chamois and various silvery/whites.

I know you want to utilise your broody, but I would Highley recommend getting some whitestars. They are leghorn hybrids. I got four pullets over four years ago and they have layed incredibly well. They lay really nice big white eggs.

Hello again! That's great you had a 100% hatch rate. That little chick looks so sweet! Hopefully you won't have any cockerals but as sods law would decide you will probably end up with close to 50% being cockerals. There is a Facebook group that is all about chickens and all it is are cockerals for rehoming at the moment.
