I don't show chickens. I've never been there. I might be starting to show pigeons though! I got a pair of Archangels from a lady at Newark NPA championship show yesterday. I've been trying to get some for ages. They are stunningthe cockbird is just coming out of moult so looks a bit rough.

That's how I ended up keeping pigeons. My neighbour had a stray land in his garden and he was chasing it around trying to kick it. Fortunately it got out the way so I left a little food out for it. I had a broody in my garage so I was keeping the door open, next thing I know this pigeon had gone into the garage and was sat next to my broody! Long story short the owner the pigeon wouldn't return to its home, it kept returning to me so the owner let me keep it! The rest is history! They're very pretty! I know very little about pigeons as it's not something I've ever kept myself (except when a racing pigeon decided to pick us as it's new home). I love the glossy colours on them!
Congrats on the egg hatching! Even if it was only one
When I was at my last show, I had a look around the pigeons and these two were my favourites. I have no idea what type they are, maybe you know?
The white one is the favourite by far though.
I did have photos of other pigeons there but I ended up having to delete them to free up memory.

I think the bottom picture is a Chinese or german owl. They can't raise there babies as they have a shortened beak. The eggs have to be raised by a standard pigeon until they fledge. I'm not sure of the top one though.
I've had a couple end up here since. One was on its way back to Glasgow, it had been released from gein in France. I kept it a couple of days to let it rest and it returned to its home!Aw well at least it got a good home with you and got you into a new hobby of pigeons!
They're funny little creatures. The one that stayed at ours was from the bottom of the country and we tried releasing it multiple times only for it to come back to ours! We informed the owner but he said he wouldn't travel that far to get it as it wasn't as valuable. So I took it to one of our nearest pigeon fanciers and he took it on and eventually...no more pigeon at ours!
Oh right, it's a shame about them not rearing their own chicks. I'll have to have a look into them, they are really pretty though.
At the show there was also English Carrier Pigeons I believe they are called? Best way to describe them is that it looks like they have some form of tumour growing on their faces
Strange looking but definitely unique!

I don't like that. The first time I saw it I thought they had pox! They look similar to the barb pigeon.Yes sometimes all they need it a little rest, some food and water then they'll got back on track!
Oh yes that's them! Except the ones at the show I was at had the lumps on their faces that were pretty much the size of their heads, quite like this one on this video I just found on YouTube. I wonder if they still manage to eat alright?
