Putting the floor eggs in a cat litter box like @Quacking Pigeon said also seems like a way to prevent trouble. If the ybs broke an egg you can see why the parent might attack.

This sounds good. Perhaps this parent will keep a closer eye on junior now that there has been an injury. I have one good daddy who would protect his babies on the floor not letting other birds harass them while mate was on the nest with more eggs.

I've actually just put both of them back up on the middle in the box next to mum who is sitting on a nest. Dad has been up and fed both of them again and preened one of them! I hope this was a one off. I really don't want any more injuries. Not now they're so close to being able to fend for themselves!

Also, you can just place a box over the nest on the floor to keep it safe, even just a corrugated box - cut out a front opening?

Perfect! Dad will be happy to feed them there and they will be safe. In another week or so they should be ready to defend themselves.

I'm not sure how it broke. It was layed straight on the mesh floor with no nesting material. It could have been broken whilst attack was happening or it could have been the cause of attack. Who knows?

I only had it a week. I've been helping with the coop rating project. I got given it to stop all the adverts and make the site faster so its easier to do more! First thing I did was make the website on my sig live! I was going to put high flying but I'm not quite there yet! Did you have premium membership?

I was gifted a trial and kept it up for awhile. my fav perk was the ability to bookmark.

I cleaned it up best I could and put purple spray (blukote) on.

I would be tempted to put her in isolation for a week or so until it heals, gains more strength and flying ability and only let her mingle with the rest of your flock under supervision.
