Yes! Vet wrap. I didn't think of that. I can get it from the feedstore. That will definitely help support it. There is plenty of popsicle sticks in this house. Normally on the floor in the kids room!
Just be carefull not to stretch it tight.. it will tighten a bit on its own after you wrap it. Just keep an eye on it.:D

I'll be happier with something supporting it. I'm not 100% sure it's broken. If it is its only a little bit broken if you know what I mean. It's not shattered and completely dangling like some can be. But there is movement and he don't like it being touched. I say 'he' because he growls like my other males do! He is good though he let's me pick him up without any fuss, no flapping and do what I need too.

Since there's movement id say yer right about it only being minor, like a small fracture. I would think splinting it would make a big difference in how quickly it heals.. but im no vet so only speculating.
Its so awesome he lets you meas with him without a fuss! :love

He's the dad of three. I'm not surprised he was happy to do a runner! I am so glad he's back. I'm not sure about splinting the leg. I don't want to constrict the blood flow. How could I splint it without it being too tight?
Never done it myself. I'm not sure its necessary - obviously its not a compound fracture or flopping around uselessly or you yourself would have considered it. I know you are experienced with birds in general.
I think I would take the advice of @sourland @Hokum Coco or @laughingdog who may have encountered this. :)
I agree you dont want to put anything on too tight.:thumbsup

eta - double congrats on the return, bodes well for the future:fl

I'm only used to chickens for the best part! I'm still learning with the pigeons and I've never had a break before! You can't break a broody pigeon like a broody hen! :lau I wish I could. I had another egg tonight I've had to remove! I'm gonna run out of falsies soon!

Sorry, i missed this one. Would you think a bit of vet wrap might give it some stability? Now I do think a couple of Symphytum pellets would help heal the bone double fast. You could put the pellets in a clean paper cone, have someone hold him so you can open his beak and just pop the in. Just try to avoind touching the pellets with your hands and keep away from strong odors, esp menthol.
