If you provide toooo many comfort features inside your aviary, Your pigies will say to each-other,,,,,, HEY GUYS,,,, LETS JUST HANG OUT HERE AND SLEEP UNDER THE STARSThat's good! I didn't fancy having to try and herd them in at night!

I've not heard of any breeding with the ferals. Whilst mine are out they don't even seem to notice the wood pigeons about. I don't think they have Homing abilities. There has been a lot of youngsters recently and none seem to stay longer than a few weeks. They are bigger than ferals or homes, that's why they get made into pies and such! There is a place near me that does a game pie that has pheasant, pigeon and boar in it. I'm not sure of the individual taste but it's nice with a salad and pickle! My question is about the Wood Pigeons.
Since we don't have them here, I was wondering if they interbreed with some of the feral pigeons, like those in the horse barn???
Do they have homing instincts ???
Does anyone mix them with their homer stocks?
I read that some peeps hunt and consume them in Europe. Would that be common in your area???
I've got bobwires for both sides. I'm not installing them on the fantails side just yet. I'm not putting a trap on, it will be just a fold down platform that covers the bobwires when it's closed. I did think about a sputnik but they're a bit expensive. I'm keeping the fantails in until the others are fully settled in to the other side. When they can see what to do hopefully they will follow suit! When I get the arcs I'll have to keep them separate for some time as they're no paired. They are make and female but I don't want them with the fantails! I won't even consider flying these until I have a couple of clutches from them!Do you have a timeline laid out to loft fly your Fantails, and coming Archangels?
Are you going to install bobwires in both sections? and have you considered Sputnik?
I did think about making one. I have plenty of wood. The problem is that although I could probably make one is that I don't think it would weather well and start looking a bit rough after it's been rained on a few times. I may buy one in the future made from metal. They are about £90. The archangels aren't cheap either. I'm parting with £80 for the pair! Plus £40 for the courier. Courier fee isn't bad. I couldn't drive it for that and it would be about a 9 hour round trip for me.I was figuring you would construct the Sputnik from your own wood leftovers.
BTW how mucho £ do you need to part for the pair of Angels?
