I can't remember what that birds breed is.
You got it! They had a plaque at the end of the aisles saying what they were. I should have paid more attention. That last one is definitely mortisha addams though! When I was looking the fantails I just got I phoned some guy up that had them. He tried selling me a couple. I like them but wouldn't want them. Its dark in the loft at night, they'd make me think they were going to bite me or something!![]()
This one is a Jacobin. I remember from a while back answering a post.
And I think I may have found the Identity of that Mortisha Adams.

Old Dutch Capuchine
According to the breed category, that are separate breeds. I still think they have common not distant ancestry.![]()
There was a notice in one of the pigeon mags about a show last year. Somebody had taken the pigeon into the public toilets to clean the pigeon before it got put on show. Apparently they left a right mess. The organisers weren't happy and said that it could result in them losing the venue. It was signed off by saying 'we know who you are!' it was quite funny how it was written but a serious note. A bit different to a tub of water in the garden!I think these breeds need to be taken to a Salon Spa weekly, to stay PRETTY![]()
now that would be a cool cross! I commission you to do that!Very good! I love their metalic colors and if I got my hands on one I could see myself trying a cross with my homers to bring in some of that look.
BTW, I've seen the Lumberyard Flock on their return from foraging the last few days. The main group is BIG, at least 2 dozen + and followed by a smaller group of 8 or so, and finally 3 stragglers. They have done extraordinarily well this year, much to the chagrin of the lumberyard staff. I sure hope this does not result the the exterminators being called in! Up til now I had thought their numbers were down - I was only seeing the trio or the smaller group...
For the first time today I saw my group of about 7 flyers and a lumberyard group maybe twice that, JOIN TOGETHER and fly a few laps for a minute or so about midway between Dragon Loft and Lumberyard Loft. It sent chills down my spine! Previously they always seemed to each keep to their own 'air space' lol
its beautiful! I love that aviary.Well as far as I'm concerned the loft is finishedI put the trap on for the fantails side. I may need to fit more perches but it is fine for the moment. I'm also waiting for my brother to drill the holes for the nest front but I have retro fitted some mesh panels for now.

I also put some solar lights on and a couple of butterfly decorations! And I painted the side of the roof that covers the rabbits, just to keep in theme!
thats really good for the first time! mine took a bit...I did the first release yesterday. They were a little unsure about getting out but they all figured it out, even Ash and her two youngsters. It was there first time out. Ash flew for ages she really enjoyed herself. She didn't really fly with the others and is alot slower but just went round and round! It started raining so went to call them in. It was a bit of a mess they were going in-between both lofts. I didn't feed them in the morning do the enticement of a bit of food got most of them to go to the new loft. I had to catch 2 or 3 and help them through the bobwires. With all this happening I didn't notice that Ash and the two youngsters had disappeared. All the rest were in. Ash reappeared about 2 hours later when the rain stopped so I managed to get her back in. She was sat on a rabbit hutch! The other two youngsters appeared just before last light and took a little more enticing in. But they're all back! It was a bit messy but I think they'll get used to it now. I think the rain messed it up. Without that it would have been alot quicker.
She may trap eventually. did you leave him?Speaking of ferals, I found one of Doo's offspring (probably a he)roosting outside my door on a perch above the AC unit AFTER DARK. Why IS he doing that I thought!?! Well, soon after we discovered a feral roosting a few feet away on a nearby roof support beam. This dark check feral was flying with my group during the afternoon and it appears (she?) didn't go home. So I'm guessing we have some inter-flock courtship going on.![]()
well.... at the Louisville pigeon show, I saw one being bathed, then blow dryed!I think these breeds need to be taken to a Salon Spa weekly, to stay PRETTY![]()
Had to leave him as his roost was way out of my reach without a long ladder. He is mostly roosting inside the loft now. As for his lady friend - she left the next day mid morning. She may trap eventually. did you leave him?
The lady I got these from was breeding for showing and selling the excess. I don't think she loft flew hers. They don't have any Homing skills. They would probably only do a couple of laps then land and spend more time walking around than flying! Luckily I don't have many hawk's in my immediate area so they should be quite safe. I'm a long way off from wanting to loft fly any yet though! I'm going to start trying to trap train the fantails soon though. That will be fun!@CCUK
I don't know much about those Archangels,,,,,,, only that they sure are beautiful. Do the peeps that you got them from LOFT FLY theirs, or just breed in cages, for SALE PURPOSES???
I know you mentioned,,,,, when you get enough of them,, you would loft fly the offsprings. Just curious how others treat their??? (if you happen to know)
I was wondering about their long distance homing skills, if any, or they are like rollers and other breeds that are easier to homeset, and stay.
(meaning just loft flying)![]()
it is always smart to trap train any bird. If it escapes, you'll get it back. Please post pics of the fantails trapping! I want to see their tails pushing the bobs! The lady I got these from was breeding for showing and selling the excess. I don't think she loft flew hers. They don't have any Homing skills.
