Um....chicken math already??

So, I originally thought I wanted 4 chickens. I got 12 in July. Mostly because they were Silkies and we figured we could end up with mostly Roos. Then, I got two more pullets in September. Now, I just ordered a few hatching eggs for my only laying and currently broody!!!!

Chicken math (and chicken addiction) is highly contagious and has no know cure.

But why would you ever want to be cured? And have fun with hatching!

Chicken math is HARD and has a lot of variables

We ordered 8 chicks in the spring thinking that only 6 would make it, and we would probably get a rooster or two by accident. That would have given us a grand total of 8 (counting the old rooster and expecting the old hen not to last that long) We ended up with 12

Of course now I see a couple of other kinds I HAVE to have..... (not going to happen)

But I just finished cutting down an old old old coop to make in to a broody hen box, just in case.

And Mom says: Oh that would be perfect for some ducks!

Who said anything about ducks
