Umbilical cord stump

I have 1 week old baby chicks. One of them had quite a mess on the bottom and I was cleaning it and what I believe is the stump from the umbilical cord came off as well. I don't think it was quite ready yet, although I don't know much about this. Should I do something?

Is it bleeding? Might put some bluecoat ointment on it if it's an open wound.

Thought i might add my question onto your thread. Hope you dont mind me kidnapping it : ) I have a 3 day old chick that i didnt know was even amoungst the others. Seems that the umbilical cord is infected, causing the abdomen to swell. I poked around a bit to see if i could dislodge any matter, but nothing "popped" Any ideas, not sure it will even last the afternoon. It is very weak...poor little thing
