Underground RR Quilt Block

Kassaundra that is interesting. Does the red area represent something or is it just a design you found/designed?

No doesn't represent anything, just thought it was cool looking, hoped it wouldn't come across as "bad retro" since the color / pattern obviously touches retro.

That was cute about the drunks. Lol

Well here they are all lined up The rest of the curtain will just be the background fabric to make it the right size for the window.
I love this! You are such a good seamstress! Don't look to close at my block! I had a hard time getting them squared up. :p How did you do your drunkards path? My dd is wanting to make one for her new baby's quilt. Is there an easy way to make it? It looks complicated to me.

Some ideas-

This might be better as it doesn't have raw edges. I prefer this one using light weight inter facing. this is the way Elanor Burns does it in her Underground Rail road book-

I thought it was really easy, just sew a little slower. I cut mine out in squares of fabric then marked the curved line and cut on that. It only took 2 pins at the sew line the one in the center and the half way point at the leading side. (guess that would actually be the 1/4 point) to make sure the square points stay centered. I'll try and make a photo tutorial in the next few days and post it.

I set my curve a little different then most drunkards path b/c I didn't want the corner in the block like most have. I wanted the curved flow w/o the right angle to throw it off b/c of the design I was making.

I know that MS lady thinks her way is easier, but for me, heat and bond has never worked and applique is not my friend.

This is how it is traditionally done see the right angles forming the inner square??? That is what I didn't want when I made my pattern I set the curved line to avoid that.

I think she uses light weight interfacing to turn the circle not heat and bond. I know a method to sew it on using just two pieces but I do not know any where online that it is shown that way. I learned from the people that I bought the templates from at a show.
