Understatement of the year award goes to..........

Plain yogurt was NOT well liked when I tried it a coupla weeks ago. Strawberry organic no sugar added however was spattered about happily. I didn't think to cut up the spaghetti and they couldn't have cared less. They were like fat mob bosses at an Italian restaurant..."hey paisano, pass the cheese"! I tried a few raisins today. I have to tell you they were not impressed. One roo actually said "Dude, REALLY?" I was shocked. Not that he spoke, but that they didn't just love the raisins. After the "egg incident" as it will now and forevermore be referred to (all near death experiences should have their own name) I am a little afraid of the grapes you suggest Diva. I mowed the lawn this afternoon and knowing how much they love grass and weeds from my garden, I lovingly raked it up and threw it in the run. Those spoiled little dorks looked at me like I had sinned by chopping their sald! They actually chose to scratch little nests in it and sit around rather than eat it. I was slighly offended until I remembered that they have root cube IQ's for the most part and work from instinct. In other words, it wasn't personal to them.

biggest hit with mine so far (though they haven't tried yogurt or scrambled eggs yet) has been some leftover mac-n-cheese

I have mine all on meds for a cocci outbreak right now so we can't eat the eggs from the one bird that's laying. After having read about how much they like scrambled eggs I tossed the "not for human consumption" eggs into my Vitamix, shells and all. After blending them up smooth I cooked them as usual and fed them to the velociraptors, er...I mean hens. They went INSANE!!! They had eaten all of it before I even got out of the run!

They are also nuts for spinach and kefir. Oh, and I mill my own flour and bake all of our bread. One day I was eating a sandwhich and started tossing them the crust that I never eat. Instant chaos in the run! They had ignored hamburger buns and storebought rolls previously but the homemade bread caused them to go berserk! So of course anytime we have scraps we're all sneaking goodies out to the girls. I know they say only feed them the commercial food and keep treats at a minimum but they love it so much and they're so darn cute!

My DH made a batch of cornbread this week. I snitched two of the muffins after dinner and walked down to visit the girls. Holy Moly it was a frenzy!!!!!! They liked grapes and yogurt, but the cornbread was like crack, HYSTERICAL. Well put it this was hubby was watching through the window(I really am not a good thief) he brought more down to them cause they were so funny>

Velociraptors...BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHa how appropriate! Oh my... I didn't think to run the shells in the eggs, and by the way what a GREAT idea to use "not for human consumption" eggs. I was wondering what to do if and when that came up. Mine love anything having to do with bread. Cornbread, crackers, bread in any form they DO NOT CARE. And yes, I get the "chicken pellets is best" deal. And mine get all they want, plus grass in the yard, bugs, and whatever else they scratch up. I figure if they lived wild, they wouldn't eat half as well......

Noodles with yogurt sauce......sounds delicious

I have some leftover beans in the fridge. Wondering how they do with those........chicken beano???

Yup! I've been giving my hens and chicks a hard boiled egg every day, and I feel like I need to count my fingers after I put the pan down to make sure I'm not missing any.

Be careful with beans! Legumes have an enzyme that must be broken down with temps over 190 for more than 20 minutes in order to be safe for chooks- there's a reference chart in the chicken ed section of the home page.

Good to know, thank you. I believe an hour and a half in a pressure cooker would create that environment so I will try a little and see how it goes.

My teens won't touch scrambled eggs... I was so surprised. They also wouldn't touch plain yogurt until I chopped grapes into it. They are just getting the treat thing, but are still leery about what comes out.
