Unexpected Duck, new "dry" picture

They look like my Runner duck eggs. They are approximately the same size as my chicken eggs, with some exceptions.

Good luck

They do look like duck eggs but the only way to tell is to wait and see if they hatch. Ducks take 28 - 32 days.

This will certainly be a post I'll be keeping an eye on!

Oh - my ducks eggs were white just like chicken eggs

Ducks I can deal with. So long as they're not guineas, if they're guineas I think my dh will kick me, my guineas and the chickens to the curb LOL he absolutely despises guineas.

I have 7 turkey eggs under one of my chicken hens. They aren't a lot different from chicken eggs, not much bigger if at all. They are pale tan with darker tan spots. They are from Rio Grande Wild Turkeys, not sure what color eggs other turkeys lay. So that's could be a possiblity too. Turkey eggs take 29 days.

Can't wait to see what hatches out of your mystery eggs. Ducklings or poults would sure be a surprise, huh?

Anything that hatches out of these eggs would be a surprise, even chickens LOL. Today is now day 25.

How will them being in the high humidity (near 80%) bator for 5 days effect them I wonder?

I've never done ducks, but from my understanding the higher humidity is necessary--so if they are ducks, it's probably a good thing that the humdity has been high. Someone else will come along and be able to tell you more, though!

They definately look like my duck eggs. They are dull white, about the size of a chicken egg, and the coloring of the egg is not as even as a chicken egg. Just wait and see? My duck eggs take about 28-30 days to hatch. LOL

Just now candled these three, and they're all still alive, and still smallish, although certainly growing. They now fill between 1/2 -2/3 of the egg, but there is still some space between the chick and air sac.

My problem now is determing when to up the humidity. I'm new to this, and aint real good at telling age by candling.... hmmm.

I had never even thought of "not chickens" but after reading the replies on this thread, that is the only thing that makes sense!! Can't wait to see what hatches out, if anything ever does LOL.

I want to guess that they are runner duck eggs also.

When my runners started laying last year, I mistook them for chicken eggs for a couple weeks. They were about the same size. This year, they are much bigger and I can tell the shiny, waxy shell is much different. It's hard to see when they are dirty.

I have runners in the hatcher right now. They just pipped this morning.

You might want to find out if the person you got the eggs from has runners.
