Unexplained rooster death - murder mystery?

First..my most sincere sympathy...it is devastating to lose a pet and you were very involved with with your little man...

Gape worm?
A vet could x-ray to see if bones were broken in an assault.
Also just found and purchased a light with wifi camera in it...for monitoring inside hen house.

And I wondered that too. But would he have forced the carrier cage open if he had that?
 
If you had a wool blanket over the carrier while he was in there, he most likely over heated and died. It will happens fast.
Yeah it wasn’t covering the side air vents, just the back and the front gate. Also it’s middle of winter here. Nights hover around 1-2 degrees C.
