Unhappy peep!!! HELP!!!!

Hi
i had to take a newly hatched peep away from a mother that is killing her chicks. I saved another one a couple days ago that is with the new one. The new one will not be quiet. Unless I hold it. It has food and water and red heat lamp.
suggestions to keep her happy??

Oooh boy. Peeps can be loud. Is the baby making a loud, consistent PEEPEEP sound? Sometimes that is a call for its mom- and if the actual mother isn't safe and if you have been the one holding the baby to quiet it down... it might view you as a source of comfort or even a surrogate parent.

Not sure the best route here. You can probably let it cry or keep giving it attention to calm it down.
My newly hatched chick imprinted on me and gave me the loud PEEPEEP every time I was out of sight.

Oooh boy. Peeps can be loud. Is the baby making a loud, consistent PEEPEEP sound? Sometimes that is a call for its mom- and if the actual mother isn't safe and if you have been the one holding the baby to quiet it down... it might view you as a source of comfort or even a surrogate parent.

Not sure the best route here. You can probably let it cry or keep giving it attention to calm it down.

Give them a covered soft dark "cave like" area to hide under similar to a mama hen. Use a dark towel and a basket or box to make somthing.

Do you have a heating pad around the house? If you do then instead of a heat lamp you can make a "mama hen heating pad" by putting in a dome/cave shape and covering it with soft material or an old towel so the chicks can hide under it to warm up. Though check the temp to make sure it isn't too hot underneath as that could burn them.

But even without a heating pad a small padded box or something else soft/warm/dark to cuddle under should help.

And yeah the baby is calling for its mama.

I'll look for something to use as a box. Thank you. The chick has quieted down. The other chick finally warmed up to it so they are finding solace in each other
