Hello, last time I posted I said that I was going to sell most of my pigeons, and well that’s yet to happen as I haven’t been able to sort out the illness in the loft.

So I have separated the birds by sex, although I think some are still in the wrong pen. Recently some of my Birmingham rollers have been getting sick, and the weather with lots of rain combined with the ventilation problem in the loft have probably been factors of this. The pigeon that is sick is quite fluffed up and I haven’t looked at her droppings yet. Should I take her or her droppings to a vet to get tested? Also, what medicine should I be giving her? And what stuff should I give my other pigeons in the loft?

P.S the Fantails are in an aviary that is very ventilated, and does experience the weather. They are my healthiest birds. So should I just add more ventilation to the loft?

Any help is appreciated.

I'm pretty sure it's cocci.
Give them corrid and electrolytes. Whenever there is lots of rain pigeons usually always end up getting cocci. I lost %90 of my birds due to two weeks of rain and cold weather. Worst two weeks ever! You can also order online from Foys and 4-1 that treats multiple things including cocci.
Best of luck.

And as for ventilation, yes you want ventilation in your lofts. A wet loft means a dead loft. Put ventilation in spots where water won't get into and if it does it needs to dry up and not stay wet.

If your fantails are the healthiest, I would add more ventiliation. Do you have pics of the sick one? It's up to you if you want to take the droppings to the vet, but they probably won't be able to help :)
