Wow! I'm glad I found this threat - such pretty birds!!! I thought I'd share one we like. I'm not sure what color you would call this handsome fellow, but we think he is pretty cool. I had ordered some high quality silkie eggs and he was one of the three that hatched. He started out solid black and has turned into this - he is about 6 months old now. Here is a picture of him with his two girls that hatched.View attachment 1191068 View attachment 1191073
Thank you! Do you have any idea what Frosty is mixed with? My best guess is that he is an OEGB x OEGB/d'uccle.So gorgeous! Reminds me of some of the roos I've gotten out of OEGB mixes. I love Huckleberry's dilute colors and the contrast between the black and gold on Griffin.

That's leakage; he isn't producing enough black pigment- so on the longest feathers usually you get leakage of the undercolour, either gold or silver (or buff or red, depending on breed and modifiers). Genetically he is silver (if he was not genetically silver, his 'fringe' would be golden or red or some shade between). We have a roo like him, not as extensive with the white, but you can see the same effect.![]()
Its a fault, and silkie breeders tell me not to breed him, as it will get passed on, but if you do not show and don't mislead buyers of fertile eggs (if you even sell them) breed what you like, IMHO. I love his personality and bred him for that.

Here is another I found on pintrest that looks like he is golden (Ss) instead of silver:
