Went to let my ducks out this morning to find 3 of them had their beaks chewed off. 2 had 3/4 gone and 1 completely gone . Absolutely sickening . Can find no information on a likely preditor. No one killed , just the missing beaks. Now I have the job of trying to find someone to euthanize them. I'm so upset.

I'm so sorry! I think this was probably a rat... Check every part of the coop, including the floor, to see where one could get in.

Best thing may be for you to euthanize them yourself. You can PM me if you want, I can walk you through a quick and painless way of doing it. They would be more reassured with you there than taking them away or having a stranger there. I know it's hard, but sometimes we need to do what is best for them no matter how much it hurts us.

Rats are pretty strong. If there was a hole the ducks could fit their bills in a rat could pretty easily hold/pull/chew on their bill from the other side. I'd agree it was probably a rat.

I’m so sorry this has happened to your duck. I have used this on a few of my chickens but haven’t had to put down any water fowl yet.

My email is currently down. I'm really sorry you have to go through this. The procedure Miss Lydia recommended is a very good one, I've used it. The other humane option is neck dislocation. There are several methods for that but look up the broomstick method on YouTube.
