Went to let my ducks out this morning to find 3 of them had their beaks chewed off. 2 had 3/4 gone and 1 completely gone . Absolutely sickening . Can find no information on a likely preditor. No one killed , just the missing beaks. Now I have the job of trying to find someone to euthanize them. I'm so upset.

I'm so sorry! I think this was probably a rat... Check every part of the coop, including the floor, to see where one could get in.

Best thing may be for you to euthanize them yourself. You can PM me if you want, I can walk you through a quick and painless way of doing it. They would be more reassured with you there than taking them away or having a stranger there. I know it's hard, but sometimes we need to do what is best for them no matter how much it hurts us.

How could a rat hold them down to sit there and chew it off ? I'm trying to get help to euthanize them I could never do it. Right now I'm just sick.

Rats are pretty strong. If there was a hole the ducks could fit their bills in a rat could pretty easily hold/pull/chew on their bill from the other side. I'd agree it was probably a rat.

I have a duck that is missing all of its bill because of an attack. I have no idea how the euthanize a duck. Could you help me as well? [email protected] Thank you.
My email is currently down. I'm really sorry you have to go through this. The procedure Miss Lydia recommended is a very good one, I've used it. The other humane option is neck dislocation. There are several methods for that but look up the broomstick method on YouTube.

Good luck, and again, I'm so sorry. :hugs
